Red Brick Brewing to launch beers in Novelis evercan packaging

DBR Staff Writer Published 27 February 2015

Red Brick Brewing will offer its beer in new certified recycled content aluminum cans in the US.

The cans are made from evercan aluminum can sheet, which is produced by Novelis.

Red Brick Brewing's Laughing Skull Amber Ale and signature Hoplanta India Pale Ale will be available in evercan aluminum cans.

As part of the company's strategy to introduce several new beers exclusively in the evercan packaging from 2016, it intends to begin with new spring seasonal Hibiscuwit, a Belgian wheat ale.

Red Brick Brewing head brewer Garett Lockhart said: "Our decision to expand from glass bottles to evercan aluminum cans aligns with our goal to be an environmentally responsible leader in the southern U.S. craft beer market.

"With evercan, we can achieve greater sustainability without sacrificing any aspect of the beer's quality."

Red Brick has also partnered with Novelis on a closed-loop recycling system for its used beverage cans. The cans from the brewery will be returned to a nearby Novelis recycling center, where these will be recycled into new evercan sheet.

The aluminum cans provide complete protection from light, thereby preserving the beer's freshness.

Novelis currently produces evercan in its facilities across North America, Europe, South America and Asia.
