Fruitapeel to deploy Elopak aseptic filling machine at Llantrisant site in UK

DBR Staff Writer Published 01 March 2013

Fruitapeel, a UK-based manufacturer of own-label and branded juices and smoothies, has partnered with Elopak to deploy S-PS80 High Aseptic filling machine at its manufacturing site in Llantrisant, Wales in March 2013.

The machine will fill aseptic juices and smoothies in 1l, 750ml and 500ml Pure-Pak cartons.

By the end of March 2013, production will begin with the co-packing of Cracker Drinks juices and smoothies, all previously produced in Germany.

Fruitapeel managing director Terry Haigh said that the Elopak technology enables British-based production for the first time.

"This machine enables the production of longer-life chilled juices, creating the opportunity for smaller retailers to produce own-label," Haigh added.

"Current systems only allow for large volumes with short shelf-life, leading to high wastage and logistical nightmares. Elopak's S-PS80 machine has increased speeds of 40% compared to existing chilled lines. In addition, the post filling cap application for the Pure-Twist® cap offers added quality and integrity benefits - increasing shelf life. This machine will open up new markets for UK retail."
